Music Production for Producers/Songwriters

In NYU's Production for Producers/Songwriters course, I worked as a producer alongside the artist, Jordan, in developing his new song titled "Over It". 

 

Throughout the course, I learned how to best utilize the skills and tools, both esthetic and technical, necessary to produce artistically and commercially successful demonstration recordings of the compositions of songwriters. More specifically, I learned the processes involved in: establishing an environment in which creativity can flourish; eliciting the best performances by all involved in a particular recording; making the best possible recording with all available tools in a particular work environment; nutiring and developing a vision for each recording; and creating a recording to which the target audience (and beyond) wishes to continue to listen to.

Some technical outcomes of this course included being able to: 

- Know how to collaborate with the artist

- Assess and develop songs prior to recording

- Understand the value of performance

- Understand optimal signal flow and microphone usage

- Understand how to utilize the minimum number of plug-ins

- Know how to create the best recording before mastering
